With summer just around the corner, it is time for an update about Team Fun Watersports. Its been a great eight years, but Team Fun will no longer be offering watersports services. Blake has taken a full time role with Waterski and Wakeboard Canada as the National Manager of Sport Development.
Don’t worry though! All of your watersports needs can be covered by The Wake Institute. All staff from Team Fun Watersports will now be working under the umbrella of The Wake Institute. Blake will be occupied this summer with his role at WSWC, offering coach training programs across Canada and helping with all Waterski and Wakeboard National Championships. However, you just might catch him coaching at The Wake Institute a little this summer. Please contact Jay and Ally for information and bookings.
Thank you to all past clients and staff. Its been fun! – Skiya later
A few more fun photos to highlight how much fun we’re having this summer!
The weather is nice, the lakes are warming up and I’m back in Ontario from a successful year at UNBC working on my Masters. Well actually I skied over 100 days at Whistler and have been on the mountain bike almost every day for the last two months. I did find time for writing the first draft of my thesis, I presented at a cycle tourism conference in Australia and have a paper currently going through the publication process for a tourism journal.
Regardless, I’m excited to be back in Ontario and I am looking forward to a great summer!

The Ranch is awesome! If you like wakeboarding you should check it out.
I drop in for a quick ride there in late July and it was super fun! Check out the quick edit of the ride: here
Team Fun is back and better then ever for 2011!
This is an exciting summer as Team Fun has partnered with Summer Water Sports to run Ontario Place Extreme (OPX) waterski shows. The shows will run Tuesday to Sunday and there will be 3 shows per day at 2:30, 4:30 and 6:30. Come down to Ontario Place and check out OPX!
Team Fun will still be operating as normal during summer 2011 in the Kawartha Lakes area.
The 2010 Voleurz Clothing is here and the wake team is modeling it! Check out this sweet gear, followed by some sick riding shots of Jay and Ally taken by Andy Campbell, thanks Andy!
Team Fun begun out of an idea: wakeboarding because it was fun. Jay and I believed so strongly in watersports for the right reason (fun), that we wanted to spread that stoke. I don’t think that dream will ever die. However, the dream and business need to evolve. We are all very excited about the future of Team Fun and watersports in Ontario.
Starting in 2010, Team Fun will look very different. Everyone in the team is starting to find their own niche in the world of watersports and the change represents that. As a result, a new component has been created – http://thewakeinstitute.com/ The Wake Institute has in reality existed for several years. However, this year it is officially becoming a separate entity. The Wake Institute is the “in our boat” side of the business. This includes lessons and clinics with Jeremy’s beautiful 40th Anniversary X-Star and the Rail Park at Jay and Ally’s place. In addition, The Wake Institute will continue to promote female specific lessons, events and clinics.
After 12 years of teaching watersports to over 10,000 people, I have also found my niche. I will continue to offer “in your boat” training. With the help of Jay and Buckeye Marine, I started this program several years ago and it has been awesome for me. I thoroughly enjoy visiting customer’s cottages and boats to spend time enjoying watersports with their families. I will continue to offer this service under the Team Fun name.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who has been a part of Team Fun over the last 6 years. All of the customers (especially the Carter’s) who have helped us become a strong team and help us expose so many of your friends and family to the sport we love. To all the staff, Jay, Ashley, Alex, Jeremy, Tessa, Ally, Erika, Adam, Brett, Andy, Jeff and everyone else who has spent countless hours building rails, setting up and taking down events and supporting our sometime crazy plans to promote and enjoy the sport. Finally, our sponsors and families (who are the best sponsors): Buckeye Marine, Buckeye Surf and Snow, Dockstart Distribution (Liquid Force and CWB), Curtis Ski School, Jermyn Lumber, The Poole Family, The Eckford family and everyone else who has helped us along in the this venture. On a personal, note I would like to thank Jay for continuing to provide me with the stoke to keep this dream alive.
Looking Forward to Summer 2010!
