The 2010 Voleurz Clothing is here and the wake team is modeling it! Check out this sweet gear, followed by some sick riding shots of Jay and Ally taken by Andy Campbell, thanks Andy!
Team Fun begun out of an idea: wakeboarding because it was fun. Jay and I believed so strongly in watersports for the right reason (fun), that we wanted to spread that stoke. I don’t think that dream will ever die. However, the dream and business need to evolve. We are all very excited about the future of Team Fun and watersports in Ontario.
Starting in 2010, Team Fun will look very different. Everyone in the team is starting to find their own niche in the world of watersports and the change represents that. As a result, a new component has been created – http://thewakeinstitute.com/ The Wake Institute has in reality existed for several years. However, this year it is officially becoming a separate entity. The Wake Institute is the “in our boat” side of the business. This includes lessons and clinics with Jeremy’s beautiful 40th Anniversary X-Star and the Rail Park at Jay and Ally’s place. In addition, The Wake Institute will continue to promote female specific lessons, events and clinics.
After 12 years of teaching watersports to over 10,000 people, I have also found my niche. I will continue to offer “in your boat” training. With the help of Jay and Buckeye Marine, I started this program several years ago and it has been awesome for me. I thoroughly enjoy visiting customer’s cottages and boats to spend time enjoying watersports with their families. I will continue to offer this service under the Team Fun name.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who has been a part of Team Fun over the last 6 years. All of the customers (especially the Carter’s) who have helped us become a strong team and help us expose so many of your friends and family to the sport we love. To all the staff, Jay, Ashley, Alex, Jeremy, Tessa, Ally, Erika, Adam, Brett, Andy, Jeff and everyone else who has spent countless hours building rails, setting up and taking down events and supporting our sometime crazy plans to promote and enjoy the sport. Finally, our sponsors and families (who are the best sponsors): Buckeye Marine, Buckeye Surf and Snow, Dockstart Distribution (Liquid Force and CWB), Curtis Ski School, Jermyn Lumber, The Poole Family, The Eckford family and everyone else who has helped us along in the this venture. On a personal, note I would like to thank Jay for continuing to provide me with the stoke to keep this dream alive.
Looking Forward to Summer 2010!

-The Team Fun Crew dominated the Canadian National Wakeboard Championships. Congratulations to student Harrison Carter: 3rd place at Canadian Nationals! Student Jenn Evans: 1st in girls, and Throw it Down.ca creator Ally Boothroyd placed 1st in female Wakeskate. A great ending to the summer. Excellent work to the whole team!
Today Pura Vida Media did a chase photo shoot with The Wake Institute’s coaches Jeremy and Jay in their new Liquid Force gear. We are extremely happy with how the photos turned out! Jer and Jay are killing it!
-Team Fun teamed up with Summer Water Sports to run “Summers For Sick Kids” Urban Rail Jam in Toronto last weekend. We were able to raise $14,000 for SickKids Hosipital.
- The warm weather is here finally. The water is warming up. It is time to starting thinking about summer.
Today we tested out the Mastercraft X15 for Buckeye Marine to see if it would be as good for ALL watersports as they say it is. We are proud to say that not only was it an epic wake for wakeboarding AND wakesurfing but we were able to ski the slalom course no problem. It was a very fun experiment indeed!
The annual Midnight Madness Rail Jam outside of Buckeye Surf & Snow was a huge success again this year! Not to mention a ton of fun!
Team Fun had a wakeskate photoshoot with Ally from Pura Vida Media, Here are some of the photos:
